Well Maintenance and Redevelopment

We provides well maintenance and extended waranties program to a variety of clients

As a water wells ages, however, the maintenance, repair and replacement of the associated infrastructure required to maintain the expected reliability becomes a pressing concern. Continuous maintenance can extend the life of a water well while also increasing the flow of the water well. The processes help to preserve the value of your well on a long-term basis. Water wells require regular maintenance to ensure adequate water flow and optimum water quality. As a water well ages, the rate at which water may be pumped (commonly referred to as the well yield, flow or performance) tends to decrease, especially in wells that were not properly developed when first drilled.

Water well maintenance to extend the service life of water supply system

In order to maintain sustainable water well productivity, it is of utmost importance to maintain and treat it in periodical basis. Only thus can durability and sustainability be ensured and investments secured for a long time. Consequently, well maintenance program helps clients to ensure the working order and performance of their wells on a long-term basis. Preventive water well maintenance services helps extending the service life of water supply system and provide significant savings in both cost and downtime. This drive for innovation continues as we enhance SUPRA maintenance and well reactivation portfolios.

The main components of a well maintenance program include:

  • Condition assessment
  • Data collection and assessment
  • Well inspection and testing

Systematic Approach for Water Well Maintenance and Services

Mechanical and Air-Surging

After the screen and casing are constructed, the well is then developed by a surging process surging tools augmented with pressured air. This technique can remove much fine material from the screen and formation area. This proscess is then coupled with chemical additives that help to break down bentonites that prove resistant to removal and greatly enhances the mechanical efficiency of the well.

Over-Pumping and Backwashing

Pumping a well at a higher rate than it was originally designed is one of the easiest methods of removing fine materials from the aquifer. When followed with other development procedures, overpumping can stabilize the aquifer. Back washing procedures involve the intermittent reversal of the flow of water into a well. The turbulence created by alternately pumping the well and allowing the water in the pipe to re-enter the aquifer assists the development procedure.

High Velocity Jetting

One of the most effective methods of well development involves the use of water jetting at high velocity onto and through the screen. The forceful action of the jets working out through the screen Opening agitates and rearranges the formation surrounding the screen. This method also may correct the damage to the formation resulting from drilling

Well Redevelopment Protocol

Long-term maintenance of wells should include periodic redevelopment and specific capacity monitoring to ensure efficient operation. Records of this redevelopment should be maintained. Establishing an efficient and timely protocol for redevelopment will save the utility money and protect the well for the long-term. As in the initial development process, the withdrawn water may contain chemicals, silt, sand, or other debris. The quality of this water may be such that it requires treatment. As a result, the following should be monitored in the withdrawn water during development: pH of the water, chloride level, toxic substances, silt, quantity of the water to be discharged, new water quality of the wells, and uptake of metals, SOCs, or VOCs that might violate air or water standards.

Even without plugging problems arising, wells should be redeveloped periodically to ensure efficient operation. Records of this redevelopment should be maintained. Establishing an efficient and timely protocol for redevelopment will save the utility money. There may be a potential for environmental problems if chemicals are used in the redevelopment process or if excessive silt, sand, and other debris are in the waste. The same procedures and regulatory limitations as in the development process must be adhered to. Caution should be taken to minimize the potential for flooding areas near the well as the redevelopment water is discharged to the ground.
